As some of you may be aware the New York Department of Financial Services ordered CO-OP Insurer Health Republic to cease operations on November 30th, 2015. Today, we finally have some more clarity on the liquidation process and how that affects anyone that was insured by Health Republic.
If you had Health Republic coverage be aware that providers are prohibited from billing you for claims that Health Republic failed to pay. Furthermore, if you paid your policy premium for December of 2015 you may be entitled to a refund. If you believe you are entitled to a refund for December’s premium you should call Health Republic at 866-680-0893.
Although the collapse of Health Republic caused a major disruption within the healthcare industry, the aftermath is finally starting to settle. The good news for insureds is that they will not be held liable for any claims Health Republic should have paid.
